How to choose
- You work online for foreign clients and are under 50: start with the DTV. It does not allow work for Thai clients.
- You are 50 or older and retired: compare the retirement extension with the LTR Wealthy Pensioner category.
- Your spouse or child is Thai: read the Non-O guide.
- You want to work for a Thai employer: read the work permit guide.
- You just need more than 30 days: read the exemption guide and the extension guide.
Rules that changed recently
The visa-free stay was cut to 30 days on 15 September 2026 and the DTV application rules were reported to change on 31 August 2026 (provisional). See the dated list on Thai visa rule changes.
